These Terms of Service govern your use of BatasDB, an AI-powered Philippine legal research platform operated by Jeva Technologies OPC.

1. About BatasDB

BatasDB is an AI-powered legal research platform providing semantic search over Philippine legal documents, including Supreme Court decisions, Republic Acts, and other primary legal sources. BatasDB is a product of Jeva Technologies OPC, a One Person Corporation registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission ("we", "us", "our", "Company").

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of BatasDB, including the website at batasdb.ph, the dashboard at app.batasdb.ph, and the API at api.batasdb.ph (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You may use the Service if you:

  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Are capable of entering into a binding agreement under Philippine law
  • Are not prohibited from using the Service under any applicable law or regulation

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. Accounts

To access most features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
  • Take responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information or violate these Terms.

4. API Keys

If you access the Service via API, you will be issued API keys tied to your account. You agree to:

  • Keep API keys confidential and not share them publicly
  • Not embed API keys in publicly accessible code repositories, client-side code, or shared documents
  • Revoke and rotate any key you believe has been compromised immediately
  • Accept responsibility for all API usage made with your keys, whether authorized by you or not

We may revoke API keys at any time without notice if we detect abuse, excessive usage, or a violation of these Terms.

5. Permitted Use

BatasDB is intended for legal research, education, and informational purposes. You may use the Service to:

  • Search and retrieve Philippine legal documents
  • Conduct legal research for personal, professional, or academic use
  • Integrate search results into your own applications via the API, subject to these Terms

6. Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable Philippine or international law
  • Attempt to scrape, harvest, or bulk-download the BatasDB corpus beyond what is permitted by your plan
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or underlying models of the Service
  • Circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other technical controls
  • Use the Service to build a competing legal database product by systematically extracting our indexed content
  • Misrepresent the source of information retrieved from the Service
  • Transmit malicious code, conduct denial-of-service attacks, or otherwise interfere with the Service
  • Use the Service to process or store highly sensitive personal data, including confidential client communications, financial account numbers, or government-issued identification numbers
  • Represent that BatasDB provides legal advice or that results constitute the official position of any court or government body

7. Not Legal Advice

BatasDB provides access to legal information, not legal advice. The Service is a research tool only. Nothing in the Service constitutes legal advice, legal opinion, or a substitute for consultation with a qualified lawyer licensed to practice in the Philippines.

Search results, AI-generated summaries, and semantic rankings are provided for informational purposes only. We make no representation that results are complete, current, accurate, or applicable to any specific legal situation. You should always verify results against official sources before relying on them.

Jeva Technologies OPC is not a law firm and does not provide legal services.

You agree not to rely on the Service as the sole basis for any legal decision, filing, or action.

8. Accuracy of Legal Content

BatasDB indexes publicly available Philippine legal documents sourced from official government repositories, including the Supreme Court E-Library and the Official Gazette. While we strive for accuracy and completeness, we do not guarantee that:

  • All documents are present in our index
  • Documents reflect the most recent amendments or corrections
  • AI-generated summaries accurately reflect the full content or legal effect of a document
  • Search rankings reflect legal relevance for your specific matter

Always verify critical legal information against official sources. For Supreme Court decisions, the official source is the SC E-Library. For statutes, the official source is the Official Gazette.

9. Intellectual Property

BatasDB Platform

The BatasDB platform, including its software, design, search algorithms, AI models, embeddings, and user interface, is owned by Jeva Technologies OPC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of any part of the platform without our written consent.

Legal Documents

Philippine laws, Supreme Court decisions, and other official government issuances indexed by BatasDB are public domain materials issued by the Philippine government. We do not claim ownership over these documents. Your right to access and use these documents is governed by applicable law.

Your Content

You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service, including search queries. By submitting queries, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process that content solely to provide the Service to you. We do not use your queries to train AI models.

10. Plans and Payments

BatasDB offers both free and paid plans. The following plans are currently available:

  • Free — 1 seat, 50 searches per month, dashboard only
  • Solo — ₱499/month, 1 seat, 1,000 searches per month
  • Pro — ₱999/month, 1 seat, 5,000 searches per month, API access
  • Firm Starter — ₱1,999/month, 5 seats, 5,000 pooled searches per month
  • Firm Pro — ₱3,999/month, 10 seats, 10,000 pooled searches per month, API access

All fees are billed in Philippine Pesos (PHP) on a monthly recurring basis and are non-refundable except as required by applicable law. Payments are processed through PayMongo, a Philippine payment gateway. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your selected payment method.

We reserve the right to modify pricing with at least 15 days' advance notice to existing subscribers. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the revised pricing.

Failure to pay may result in suspension or downgrade of your account to the Free plan.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR TIMELINESS OF ANY LEGAL CONTENT RETURNED BY THE SERVICE.

We do not guarantee any specific level of uptime or availability. We may perform maintenance that temporarily makes the Service unavailable, with or without prior notice.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE PHILIPPINE LAW, JEVA TECHNOLOGIES OPC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO RELIANCE ON SEARCH RESULTS, AI SUMMARIES, OR ANY LEGAL RESEARCH CONDUCTED THROUGH THE PLATFORM.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR PHP 1,000, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Jeva Technologies OPC, its officers, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your use of the Service, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

14. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected] or through your dashboard settings.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms, engaged in abusive behavior, or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

Sections 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, and 15 survive termination.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the appropriate courts of Cebu City, Philippines.

Before initiating formal proceedings, you agree to contact us at [email protected] to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will make reasonable efforts to resolve disputes within 30 days of receiving written notice.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users at least 15 days before taking effect, and by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and may terminate your account before the effective date.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid under applicable law, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Jeva Technologies OPC regarding your use of the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
